AWS, 한국 Region을 2016년에 개설할 예정

아마존이 2016년 초에 한국 Region을 연다고 합니다. 그동안 일본에 있는 Region을 이용해야 해서 latency 등의 문제가 많았는데 그 문제가 모두 해결 될 수 있을지 그 귀추가 주목됩니다.

지역별로 AWS 서비스를 제공하는 것이 저희 회사의 고객들에게 적합하다는 것은 이미 확인 된 바 있습니다. 우리는 항상 고객의 데이터가 어디에 있든, 어디에서 처리되든 완벽하게 고객이 제어할 수 있어야 한다고 믿습니다.

다음 정거장은 한국

2016년 초에 한국에 AWS Region을 개설하게 된 것을 알리게 되어 기쁩니다. 이것은 아시아 지역에서 다섯 번  째이며, 세계적으로는 12번째 (2016년에 추가로 개설 될 인도와 오하이오 제외)입니다.

이미 한국의 많은 기업에서 AWS를 이용하고 있습니다. 예를 들면:

스타트업: Devsisters (re:Invent video), IGAWorks (re:Invent video), Beatpacking (case study).

게임회사 – 넥슨 (case study), 게임빌 (case study), 위메이드 (case study).

엔터프라이즈 – 삼성 (case study), SK Planet (case study), SM 엔터테인먼트 (case study).

이들 기업, 그리고 이 외의 많은 기업이 한국 지역 AWS 개설을 요청했고, 한국의 기업, 스타트업, 협력사, 정부기관, 교육기관을 위해 한국 AWS 개설을 결정했습니다.

한국 지역의 세계최고수준 초고속 인터넷을 이용하여, 빠르고 지연 없는 웹 사이트, 모바일 앱, 게임, Saas 어플리케이션 등을 지원하게 됩니다. 예를 들면 한국에서 차세대 SaaS 어플리케이션을 만들어 전 세계에 서비스 할 수 있습니다. 한국에 개설될 Region은 한국 이외 지역의 이용자들에게도 빠른 속도로 접속할 수 있게 해주어, 모바일 앱, 빅데이터, IoT 분야에 큰 혁신을 불러 올 것입니다.

현재 작업 중

한국에 개설될 Region의 AWS 서비스 목록과 EC2 인스턴스 타입 등의 더 많은 정보가 준비되어 있고, 런칭 될 때 공개될 예정입니다.

In the Works – AWS Region in South Korea!

The region-based AWS model has proven to be a good match for the needs of our global customer base. We have always believed that you need to be able to exercise complete control over where your data is stored and where it is processed.

Next Stop, Korea
I am happy to announce that we will be opening an AWS region in Korea in early 2016. This will be the fifth AWS region in the Asia Pacific area, bringing the global total to 12 (this does not include the regions that we are planning to open in India and Ohio, also in 2016).

There are already many AWS customers in Korea. Here are some examples:

• Hot Startups – Devsisters (re:Invent video), IGAWorks (re:Invent video), and Beatpacking (case study).
• Top Gaming Companies – Nexon (case study), Gamevil (case study), and Wemade (case study).
• Enterprises – Samsung (case study), SK Planet (case study), and SM Entertainment (case study).

These customers (and many others) have asked us for a local region; we are looking forward to making it available to them and to many other enterprises, startups, partners, government agencies, and educators in Korea.

The new region, coupled with Korea’s world-leading internet connectivity, will provide customers with quick, low-latency access to websites, mobile applications, games, SaaS applications, and more. For example, the new region will allow service providers in Korea to build the next generation of SaaS applications and to make them available to customers all over the world. The new region will allow organizations outside of Korea to reach end users in the area with very low latency; we also believe that it will spur innovation aroundmobile apps, big data, and the Internet of Things (IoT).
